The Green Mountain Woodcarvers hold an annual show in August. Exhibiting members come from all over New England. Drop in to discover all aspects of wood carving, from caricature carving to wildfowl, art birds to Scandinavian flat plane carvings. Demonstrations are planned throughout the day of carving styles and methods, including an opportunity for kids (of all ages) to try their hand at soap carving. What you need to get started carving: woodcarving tools (gauges and knife shown), protective glove, template or wood blank (bird-shaped blank pictured). And a water bottle, because it's important to stay hydrated.
