Early Birders Morning Walk (May 4)

Spring mornings are terrific for birding. Join us for a walk led by experienced birders. Ali Wagner will lead the walk on May 4th.

Who’s singing, calling, nesting, or flying around the Birds of Vermont Museum? Discover birds on an early morning ramble in the Museum’s forest and meadows. Walks are led by experienced birders familiar with Vermont birds.

Bring binoculars and good walking shoes. Early mornings are often damp with dew and boots are definitely in order. Don’t forget bug spray/tick repellent!

Park at 900 Sherman Hollow Road, in the Museum parking lot.

Free, suggested donation: $10

April 2025 events

We’re busy getting ready for Opening Day in May! Choosing art, organizing volunteers, checking trails… While we do this, the Museum is open by appointment and for special events.

The trails are open from sunrise to sunset, every day—we recommend using the south trails (Spear, Discovery, Story) rather than Gale’s, Pop’s, or Bob’s, thanks to flooding last July. Trail maps and more information are available on our website, and are posted at the museum and at trail kiosks as well. (Let us know if the wind moved any!)

By-Appointment Season 2024-2025 (April)

From November through April, we’re open by appointment and for special events. Individuals, families, and groups are all welcome at all times of year. Our trails are open year-round, sunrise to sunset.

Behind the scenes in April: we’re jurying the submitted art, contacting artists, and hanging the art for Birds and Myth. We’re also working on grants, welcoming volunteers, tidying permanent exhibits. We’re excited about returning migratory birds and planning lots of birds walks for May and June!

Join our monthly monitoring walk to record birds at the Museum’s trails, forest, and meadow. Learn something new, share what you know, or both! Most fun for adults, older children.

Please bring your own binoculars and dress for the weather. We recommend bringing tick repellent and a water bottle.

Free, suggested donation $10 – $15
Max: 12 people

We go out the last Saturday of every month. Walks start at 7:30 am April – August; 8am September – March.

March 2025 events
