Sugaring season is upon us, and it’s time to look for some early returning migrants. We’re still watching birds, making art, and exploring winter as often as we can.
We are open by appointment through the rest of the winter, as well as during the special events we have this month.
=== MARCH EVENTS ===
A GIFT OF ART : an almost accidental art show
through April • by appointment and during special events
This often-changing “accidental” exhibit displays varied works from previous shows, selections from our gift shop, and elements of our long-term collections. See how art weaves together myriad media, styles, and visions. What’s present in March may be quite different from what we place in November, so consider a repeat visit!

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS TO WINGS • WATERS • WAYS
The Birds of Vermont Museum invites art submissions that dive and soar with the ways of wings and waters for our 2026 community art show.
Explore the interwoven history of humans, birds, and waterways with your art. Consider upcoming “250th” celebrations, the much-longer history of humans on the landscape in the Green Mountains and Champlain Valley, and the much, much, much longer stories of how birds have evolved with, use, and been influenced by water and waterways. Ponder habitats, adaptations, and interactions.
Artists of all ages are encouraged to submit to this juried show. Amateur, hobbyist, student, and professional artists welcome. Traditional and digital works may be submitted. From fabric to photos, paint to poetry, we welcome visual, textual, and/or audio submissions. No work using generative AI will be accepted. The entire Call to Artists with all details is at https://birdsofvermont.org/call-to-artists-wings-waters-ways/
Entries are due by Monday, March 23, 2026, 11:59 PM
We expect to inform creators about acceptance in early April. The art show runs from May to October.
